Temu marketplace may face blocking in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Temu marketplace, which has been operating in Uzbekistan since 2024, may face restrictions in the country. This was announced by Kamronbek Mukhamadiev, head of the e-commerce development and regulation department at the National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP).

According to him, the platform has yet to obtain a license to operate in Uzbekistan and has made no attempts to formalize its status. As a result, access to Temu may soon be restricted.

It is worth noting that in December 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers approved new regulations for e-commerce, which will take effect on 1 July 2025.

These regulations apply to a wide range of market participants, including marketplaces, order aggregators, digital streaming services, and self-employed individuals, such as couriers and taxi drivers.

Under the new requirements, all marketplace operators, order aggregators, and streaming platforms must register as legal entities in Uzbekistan.

Financial transactions, including earnings of self-employed individuals, must be conducted through special bank accounts. Additionally, all e-commerce entities must be registered in a state registry and operate on a notification basis.
