National Library named after Alisher Navoi is national universal information-library establishment and largest information-library establishment and cultural center in Uzbekistan. The library possesses full collection of national and foreign publications. The library fund has over 10 million units of publications, of which over 3.5 million are national publications.

The library has over 200,000 publications, issued in the 15-19th century, of which over 16,000 are rare and old publications, manuscripts, lithographs, journals and papers. Annually some 500,000 people visit reading rooms of Library and use some 2 million publications.

New building of the Library with total area of 38,000 square meters was constructed in 2010-2011, which include production zone, readers zone, premises for storing publications, as well as hall for holding international symposiums with 960 seats. New building has 14 reading halls, exhibition call, books museum, children room, book saloon, cinema center, Internet and media center, café and rest room.

Bakhodir Musaev, First Deputy Director of Direction on management of exploitation of the building of National Library named after Alisher Navoi, said the Library can be proud with its collection, which include 200,000 publications of the 15-19th century, of which 16,000 are rare and old publications, manuscripts, lithographs, journals and papers.

He said that such collections require careful storage and serious security measures. He added that the library and Technoserv created a modern security system, which will ensure security of collection. Within the project, Technoserv carried out assembly and commissioning works of integrated automated security system of the system and system on control based on software and equipment of Honeywell.

The integrated automated security system consists of six sub-systems, which include video surveillance, notification system, access control system, burglar alarm system and fire alarm system.

The video surveillance system unites 170 video cameras, which were installed outside and inside of the building. The access control system was constructed based on over 100 sets of equipments, which ensure automated control over access of visitors and employees to the library rooms.

The Russian firm also installed over 200 burglar alarm detectors and 1,700 fire alarm detectors. The library has emergency situation notification system with 500 facilities.

At the same time, Technoserv assembled modern wireless conference communication system based on Bosch equipment at the Symposiums Hall of the Library and created infrastructure for work of mobile television station.

Sayfuddin Tagirov, head of department on work with Asian states of Technoserv, said that the project was implemented within eight months. He said that Technoserv specialists laid over 70 km of cables to create various systems and installed over 3,000 equipments.
