Teach for Uzbekistan conducts third stage of participant selection
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 19 April 2025, the third stage of the participant selection process for the Teach for Uzbekistan program was held. The event took place in person and brought together 30 candidates who had successfully passed the preliminary multi-stage selection.
The third stage of the selection process for the first wave of candidates identified the 18 most promising participants. This stage helped to identify candidates with high motivation, strong professional and personal competencies, and a readiness to become educators in remote regions of the country, contributing to the development of education.
Teach for Uzbekistan is a partner of the global network Teach for All, which supports similar initiatives in 65 countries worldwide.
The organization’s goal is to provide quality education to every child, regardless of their social status or place of residence.
Selection Process: From Application to the Assessment Center
The Teach for Uzbekistan program follows a rigorous and sequential selection model. The first step toward the goal is the submission of an online application and writing a motivational essay. In this stage, each candidate must answer key questions that reveal their values and aspirations, as well as their vision of the teacher’s role in the lives of children.
The second stage is an online interview, where selection and hiring specialists provide detailed information about the program and its mission. They align the candidates’ personal values with the core principles of the organization, and only when there is full alignment are candidates allowed to proceed to the next level.
Practical Competency Assessment Stage
The most crucial milestone in the selection process was the third stage, conducted by the Assessment Center. Throughout the day, the 30 candidates participated in complex tasks designed to assess essential qualities for educators:
Leadership potential
Empathy and flexibility
Ability to work in teams
Stress resilience
Creativity and pedagogical thinking
The exercises used for competency assessment were developed based on international methodologies and adapted to the realities of Uzbekistan’s education system. The assessment was carried out by 24 recognized experts in the field of education, including leading teachers and methodologists from top schools and universities in the country.
Following the third stage, 18 participants were selected to proceed to the next round.
What’s Next? Stages of Becoming Future Teachers
The candidates still have two more stages ahead:
Stage 4: A meeting with methodologists, where candidates’ knowledge in the subject they will teach will be assessed.
Stage 5: A summer institute, a five-week intensive program where participants will learn modern teaching methods, soft skills, inclusive approaches, and classroom management strategies.
Starting in September 2025, participants who successfully complete all stages will begin teaching in partner schools in the Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions.
