Tashkent Thermal Power Plant and Tashkent Technical University: Dual Education System in Action

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Tashkent branch of the Thermal Power Stations JSC and the Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov have signed a memorandum to further develop dual education processes aimed at providing the energy sector with qualified personnel.

Today, scholars and researchers, young students, and responsible representatives from the technical university and the enterprise gathered to learn about ongoing scientific research conducted by scientists and researchers and to create necessary conditions for students to undergo practical training at the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant.

The event, organized as a press tour, was attended by media representatives, journalists, and bloggers.

This event is part of the implementation of priority tasks related to energy efficiency and the expansion of alternative energy sources, as outlined in the video conference chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 27 August 2024.

The event began with the official opening of the Automation and Heat Measurement Laboratory at the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant. The laboratory is equipped with all necessary equipment, providing an opportunity for technical university students to strengthen their theoretical knowledge in harmony with practical experience.

According to the memorandum signed between the Tashkent branch of Thermal Power Stations JSC and the Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov, the goal is to further enhance the preparation of competitive specialists, organize advanced training courses, conduct scientific research, and support educational-methodological directions.

Since the beginning of the year, Thermal Power Stations JSC has been implementing priority tasks outlined in the "Roadmap" for 2024-2026 to further improve the activities of the energy faculty at Tashkent State Technical University and the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy.

In line with this, favorable conditions have been created at system enterprises for the joint integration of scientific and theoretical research by professors and teachers. Since the start of the year, 31 representatives from the educational institution have been working on scientific research at the power stations and central offices of Thermal Power Stations JSC.

Currently, 130 employees of Thermal Power Stations JSC are undergoing training at Tashkent State Technical University. Various workshops involving industry veterans, professors, and teachers are regularly held to enhance their knowledge.

As part of joint projects, Thermal Power Stations JSC has renovated and equipped a training laboratory at the Heat Power Engineering Faculty of the technical university.

To support young personnel, in the 2024/2025 academic year, 22 employees with at least five years of service have been sent to the higher educational institution for part-time studies.

It is worth noting that since the beginning of the year, 627 students from higher education institutions specializing in energy have completed their industrial and pre-diploma internships at the system enterprises and branches of Thermal Power Stations JSC.
