Tashkent — the most densely populated area in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As of 1 April 2025, the average population density in Uzbekistan was 84 people per square kilometer, according to data from the National Statistics Committee.
However, when it comes to the most densely populated regions of the country, the city of Tashkent leads by a wide margin. In Tashkent, there are 6,983.2 people per square kilometer — a figure that significantly surpasses that of any other region in the country.
Following Tashkent, the most densely populated regions are Andijan and Fergana. The population density in Andijan Region stands at 807.9 people per km², while Fergana Region registers 615.7 people per km². These regions rank among the most densely populated in Uzbekistan.
Conversely, relatively low population densities are observed in regions such as Navoi, with only 9.9 people per km², and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, where the figure is 12.2 people per square kilometer.
