Tashkent schoolchildren learn the principles of mindful eating

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The topic of fostering a responsible approach to nutrition among children became a key focus of the educational program "Health Routes." This time, the activities extended beyond the classroom, with students visiting the Korzinka Boshliq supermarket, where they explored the basics of a healthy lifestyle and guidelines for choosing nutritious foods in an interactive format.

The event was organized by Nestlé with the support of the Korzinka supermarket chain, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of Uzbekistan, and the Republican Education Center. The tour was part of a program aimed at promoting healthy eating and mindful consumption among the younger generation.

As part of the "I Am a Responsible Consumer" module, schoolchildren not only learn about healthy eating principles in the classroom but also apply their knowledge in practice. The most active participants in the program are given the opportunity to visit one of the country's largest supermarkets, where, under the guidance of experts, they learn to analyze product compositions, choose healthy snacks, and understand labeling.

Nestlé specialists explained to the children the importance of a balanced diet and the role of quality products in maintaining good health.

Sergey Lysuk, CEO of Nestlé in Uzbekistan, stated: "Our goal is to help children develop a mindful attitude towards food from an early age. This teaching format allows us to clearly demonstrate that even everyday shopping can be a step towards a healthy lifestyle. These are not abstract concepts but practical skills that will stay with them for many years."

Rud Pedersen, CEO of Korzinka, commented: "We support initiatives that teach children to make informed choices. Responsible consumption is not just a trendy concept; it's the foundation of future health. Teaching through play is one of the most effective methods, and we are happy to contribute to this important cause."

At the end of the tour, the participants reinforced their newly acquired knowledge through practical application. The "Health Routes" program continues to expand, helping to foster healthy habits and build a society where self-care starts with simple but mindful decisions.

"Health Routes" is an educational initiative under Nestlé's global program Nestlé for Healthier Kids, implemented with methodological support from the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan. The project targets students aged 7-8 and is integrated into the "Natural Sciences" curriculum. The updated version of the program launched in 2025 builds on the successful experience of its implementation from 2013 to 2018.
