Tashkent region posts strong economic growth in 1Q
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
The growth of gross regional product of Tashkent region made up 8.5% in January-March 2010, the region’s deputies said in their meeting.
The volume of industrial output increased by 7% and agriculture output rose by 7.2% in the reporting period. Production of consumer goods grew by 12.4%, construction works - 16.5%, retail trade turnover – 8.2% and service – 17.6%.
Enterprises of Tashkent region exported goods and services for US$350.6 million, the meeting said.
About 1,051 small businesses were created in the reporting period. The small and private businesses received loans from commercial banks for 40 billion soums in the reporting period.
