Tashkent region delegation holds talks in China: US$120 million memorandum signed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Tashkent region, led by khokim Zoyir Mirzaev, is currently in Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China, for a series of productive meetings aimed at strengthening trade and investment cooperation.

During the negotiations, it was noted that the forward-thinking policies of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of China, Xi Jinping, aimed at fostering fraternal and friendly ties between the two nations, are yielding significant positive results.

Currently, over 700 joint ventures with Chinese capital operate in Tashkent Region, providing employment to tens of thousands of Uzbek citizens.

At the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China, Zoyir Mirzaev held discussions with entrepreneurs from Shandong Province.

The talks focused on expanding cooperation in the fields of industry, construction, and public services. The parties also exchanged views on transitioning recreational areas, parks, and public spaces to renewable energy sources and modernizing them using Chinese expertise.

The negotiations were attended by more than 10 prominent entrepreneurs, including Su Zhijun, Secretary-General of the Association for Popular Science Research of Shandong Province; Sun Haifen, Director of Sky Success International Investment Co. and Sky Asia International Investment Limited; Gao Junhai, General Director of Zhongru Ke Xinda Construction Group Co.; and others.

Following the meetings, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the hokimiyat of Tashkent Region and Beijing China Sciences Runyu Environmental Technology Co. Ltd.

Under the agreement, a waste processing plant worth US$120 million will be constructed in Yangiyul.

Once operational, the facility will process 800 tons of waste per day, generating electricity for public consumption.

In the long term, the project will be expanded, with its capacity increasing to 400,000 tons of waste per day to further enhance power generation.

The project is expected to create over 150 jobs, and once the facility reaches full capacity, total investment in the initiative will grow to US$400 million.

In the afternoon, the delegation traveled to Hefei, the administrative center of Anhui Province, where they are scheduled to visit manufacturing facilities and engage in trade and investment negotiations.
