Tashkent received the status of "observer" of the World Alliance of International Financial Centers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the last Board of Directors of the World Alliance of International Financial Centers (WAIFC) in Casablanca (Kingdom of Morocco), on the initiative of the Agency for Strategic Reforms under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ASR), the issue of participation of Tashkent as an international financial center in the activities of WAIFC, and obtaining the status of "observer" of WAIFC by Tashkent was considered. This was reported by the press service of the Agency for Strategic Reforms.

By a majority vote of members of the Board of Directors of WAIFC, Tashkent received the status of "observer" of the World Alliance of International Financial Centers. The status of the official representative of Tashkent as an International Financial Center in the WAIFC is assigned to the ACP.

Participation of Tashkent as an international financial center in the activities of the Alliance implies:

- formation of a pool of international partners to support the activities and development of the International Financial Center in Tashkent (TIFC). Access to the expertise of financial centers participating in the Alliance;

- participation in working groups and joint projects of the Alliance members in the field of development and digitalization of the financial market, the implementation of investment policy goals;

- promotion of the investment potential of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The World Alliance of International Financial Centers is an international non-profit organization that brings together specialized organizations in the financial industry. WAIFC acts as a key platform for cooperation between leading financial centers from around the world to develop common approaches to create an enabling environment and infrastructure for the development of the financial sector, taking into account the digitalization process. The members of the Alliance are administrations of financial centers and cities, financial market associations, specialized business communities. As of October 2022, the Alliance consists of 21 members and 7 observers. Among them are New York, London, Frankfurt, Paris, Hong Kong, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Toronto, Busan, Casablanca, Astana and other financial centers.

The members of the Alliance unite more than 60,000 investment firms, 8,000 banks and 20,000 fintech startups.
