Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Presidential School of Tashkent has won the prestigious Zayed Sustainability Prize in the "Global Middle Schools" category for its achievements in sustainable development.
The award was presented by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The award ceremony took place in Abu Dhabi, where the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was also present. He met with the school representatives and warmly congratulated them on this significant achievement.
The Zayed Sustainability Prize was established in 2008 to support sustainable development and humanitarian initiatives worldwide. The prize recognizes and awards small and medium-sized enterprises, non-governmental organizations, and educational institutions that provide innovative and inspiring solutions in the areas of "Healthcare," "Food," "Energy," "Water," and "International Schools."
For the first four categories, the winner receives US$600,000. In the "International Schools" category, each of the six winners, representing six regions, is awarded a prize of US$100,000.
Candidates in the "Healthcare," "Food," "Energy," and "Water" categories must demonstrate how their activities make critical products and services more accessible, as well as their long-term vision for improving living and working conditions. Applicants in the "International Schools" category must prove active student involvement in project development at all stages.
