Tashkent Metro continues infrastructure modernization
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of ongoing efforts to update the transport infrastructure, the Tashkent Metro continues to modernize its equipment at stations.
Last year, the escalator system at the "Novza" and "Halklar Dustligi" stations was fully replaced, and on 31 March 2025, a new escalator was put into operation at the "Mustakillik Maydoni" station. This was reported by Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport.
Installation work for escalators at the "Paqtakor" and "Hamid Alimjon" stations is in the final stages.
To enhance accessibility, electronic lifts for people with disabilities have been installed at the "Buyuk Ipak Yuli" station, similar to those already implemented at the "Halklar Dustligi" station. Plans are in place to install similar lifts at 16 more stations by the end of the year.
Additionally, sanitary rooms have been opened at the "Buyuk Ipak Yuli" station, which were previously only available at the "Chilanzar" station.
In the coming months, similar sanitary rooms will be opened at eight more stations, with work already in the final stages at the "Amir Temur Khiyoboni," "Paqtakor," and "Beruni" stations.
