Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 4 September, a meeting was held at the Tashkent City Administration between the Mayor of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, and a Chinese delegation led by Chen Min’er, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Tianjin.
The parties discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation between Tashkent and Tianjin.
Shavkat Umurzakov emphasized the importance of the historical ties between China and Uzbekistan, dating back to the Silk Road, and noted that the political will of the leaders of both countries is creating new opportunities for interregional cooperation in implementing major projects.
He also highlighted the sustained growth in trade between Tashkent and Chinese regions and noted that more than 800 enterprises with Chinese capital are successfully operating in Uzbekistan under favorable business conditions.
During the meeting, the delegation was introduced to the opportunities and conditions offered by the "Yangi Avlod" Special Industrial Zone.
Chen Min’er expressed gratitude for the provided information and warm reception, and expressed confidence that the visit was an important step in strengthening bilateral relations.
At the end of the meeting, agreements were signed to establish partnership relations between Tashkent and Tianjin, with the mayors of the two cities signing the documents.
