Tashkent Mayor and Turkish Ambassador discuss strengthening cooperation and new initiatives

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Mayor of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Uzbekistan, Olgan Bekar. The discussion focused on current issues of bilateral cooperation and prospects for further strengthening Uzbek-Turkish relations.

Shavkat Umurzakov noted that collaboration between Uzbekistan and Türkiye is developing dynamically, reflecting the strategic partnership established by the leaders of both nations. He expressed his appreciation to the Turkish diplomatic corps for their contribution to strengthening these ties and fostering multifaceted cooperation.

Olgan Bekar, in turn, thanked the mayor for the warm welcome and mentioned that his diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan is coming to an end. He shared his views on the further development of cooperation, particularly addressing topics such as the expansion of the Turkish school in Tashkent, the naming of a city street after Türkiye’s first president, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the creation of a Turkish garden in the capital.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining active dialogue and enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, contributing to the continued development of friendly and partnership-based relations between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
