Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art to be held in October
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Seventh Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art will be held in Tashkent withinthe Art Week Style.uz, which will be held from 22 to 27 October 2013.

The Biennale is organized by Fund Forum, Uzbekistan Art Academy and Tashkent city administration.

Curator of the Seventh Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art Kamola Akilova spoke about preparations to the event. The topic of the Biennale is “Various cultures – single world” – we are various, we have various culture and language, and religion, but we live in one world.

Kamola Akilova said that the goal of the Biennale is in this. She said that the biennale contributes to development of inter-cultural dialogue along with Tashkent International Cinema Forum ‘Golden Guepard’ and Theatre Festival Theatre.Uz.

Akilova said that this year the biennale organizers received large number of applications and the best of them were selected. Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art is good opportunity to show Uzbek art as everyone does not have chance to organize personal exhibitions abroad. The biennale is an exhibition platform, which allows to communication between Uzbek and foreign painters.

She said that over 200 painters from 45 countries, of which 100 from Uzbekistan, applied to the biennale. Last biennale attracted painters from 26 countries. The goal of the biennale is to show creative potential of the painter and help to establish partnership among painters and gallaries.

She noted that it is expected that painters from Germany, Philippines, Greece, Italy and other countries will present their works.

Kamola Akilova underlined that the biennale will also host master classes, conferences and other events directed at promotion of contemporary art.
