Economy 02/07/2007 Tashkent hosts Uzbek-Indonesian business forum

Delegation led by the General Director for Pacific region at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Primo Alui Joelianto is on visit to Uzbekistan, UzA reported.

Business-forum in participation of representatives of Uzbek-Indonesian business circles was held in International business center in Tashkent. The meeting considered the issues of expansion trade and economic cooperation between the countries.

The participants of the meeting pointed out the creation of new possibilities for development of trade and economic cooperation between two countries, particularly, in the sphere of light industry, transportation, finance, energy sector, medical and pharmaceutical production.

Deputy Chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industy of Uzbekistan N. Kasimov and Primo Alui Joelianto emphasized, that the cooperation between two countries in the spheres of trade is consequently developing.

Indonesian entrepreneurs familiarized with economic potential of Uzbekistan, and pointed out, the favorable conditions for foreign investors created in the country. The sides exchanged views concerning the further expansion of cooperation, joint development and implementation of several new projects.

Currently Uzbekistan exports component cotton fiber, metals, fruits and vegetables, and other product to Indonesia. In turn Indonesia exports medicine, transportation equipment, wood and products from wood.

Indonesian delegation also familiarized with the process of privatization in the country, development of small and private entrepreneurship.

Indonesian delegation visited State Museum of Temurid’s. The exhibits narrating about life of Amir Temur and its descendants cause general interest.

"Uzbekistan is famous in the world for its ancient and rich history, great thinkers such as Imam al-Bukhariy, Imam at-Termiziy, Burkhaniddin Marghinoniy, Makhmud az-Zamakhshariy," said General Director for Pacific region at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Primo Alui Joelianto.

The profound work now accomplished in Uzbekistan to revive, restore and preserve the ancient monuments is worth recognition. The announcement by the Islamic Scientific, Educational and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) of Tashkent as the world capital of Islamic culture in 2007 is yet another international confirmation of the o­ngoing effective works in Uzbekistan to study and develop the spiritual and cultural heritage.
