Tashkent hosts the University Cyber Cup tournament among students of Tashkent universities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Cybersport is a fast-growing field that opens doors to a promising future and creates new jobs for students, with the possibility of earning good income and becoming qualified specialists, regardless of their physical capabilities or health problems. Fortunately, this area is becoming more popular every year and opens up new frontiers for the younger generation. It should be noted that not only esports professions are developing in this area, but also the professions of analysts, judges, coaches, streamers, commentators, castors, managers and marketers.

Today, the active audience of esports exceeds 230 million people worldwide. At the same time, the number of esports fans is growing by 10-20% every year, and competent experts predict that in 2021 the number of people interested in esports will reach 350 million. Every year, hundreds of millions of fans watch numerous competitions with a prize pool of millions of dollars.

This sport is rapidly developing and gaining popularity among young people, and the Cybersport Association of Uzbekistan has taken the first step to meet the needs of children in this promising area.

The Uzbekistan Cybersport Association was established in 2017 and works closely with the Asian Cybersport Federation and other international organizations. A number of organizational changes are underway to bring the Association's activities to a new level and adapt it to the requirements of international standards. Entering a new stage of development, the organization revises its charter, makes changes to its goals and objectives and expands the scope of its activities.

The main goal of the Association is to support and develop eSports in the Republic of Uzbekistan, improve the skills of players, develop electronic video games and applications, strengthen ties between universities and various institutions, promote modern information technologies, and organize eSports competitions and tournaments.

On 31 January, on the initiative of the Cybersport Association of Uzbekistan, the final stage of the Univerity Cyber Cup tournament was held among students of Tashkent universities in three areas of cybersport - CS: GO, DOTA 2 and PUBG Mobile. The prize fund of the tournament was 100,000,000 soums.

The competition was organized with the general sponsorship of Uzcard, as well as with the support of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, the Youth Union of Uzbekistan, the Agency for Youth Affairs of Uzbekistan, the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the ITV TV channel and international companies Dr. Web and SteelSeries.

Selection rounds were held online among students of 28 universities of the capital on 23 and 24 January. In total, about 400 students took part in the qualifying games. In the final round of the competition, INXA University competed with the Turin Polytechnic University in the DOTA 2 discipline, and in the CS: GO discipline with the Singapore Institute for Management Development. 

Students of Webster University, INHA University, Westminster International University, Tashkent branch of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after Gubkin, Singapore Institute for Management Development in Tashkent, Amity University, Tashkent State University of Law, Tashkent State Pedagogical University, Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khorezmi, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Tashkent State Economic University, Yeoju Technical Institute, Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute and University of World Economy and Diplomacy took part in the tournament.

In a tournament full of a fierce and uncompromising struggle, the winners were: INHA students in the DOTA 2 discipline, and the MDIST team won in the CS: GO discipline. In PUBG Mobile, TSUE students beat all their rivals.
