Tashkent hosts roundtable on supply of electricity to population
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State Committee of Uzbekistan on Demonopolization and Development of Competition organized a roundtable on providing electricity to population and adherence of the enterprises of Uzbekenergo to legislation on protection of consumers’ rights.

Representatives of the committee, the Ministry of Justice, Uzbekenergo and its enterprises, Uzstandard, Uzkommunhizmat and others participated at the roundtable.

The roundtable was organized to discuss issues of supplying electricity to population, eliminating problems in the area, boosting cooperation of electricity suppliers and consumers.

It was noted that power industry contributed to development of all industries. The industry is conducting work on modernization of the capacities to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity.

It was said that 2,860 complaints on services of communal sector were received in 2011, and 23% of them were related to supply of electricity.

Studies of these complaints showed that population has debts for supplied power. There are also problems with installation and replacement of electricity powers, and incorrect use of tariffs and fines. Participants also considered issues of illegal consumption of electricity.

At the end of the roundtable, the participants adopted recommendations on improving situation in the sector.
