Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 October, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev took part in the opening ceremony of the Regional International Conference on Food Systems Transformation, held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel as part the Annual Meeting of the International Fund for Agricultural Development of the United Nations in Tashkent.

He noted that the situation with the disruption of food supply chains that has developed during the coronavirus pandemic has once again actualized the importance and interdependence of all levels of food systems - from small households to the largest agri-food complexes and supplier enterprises.

The need to provide the general population with affordable agricultural products as the transformation of the agrosphere continues was emphasized. As one of the solutions to this problem, it was proposed to expand investments in projects for the implementation of systems that analyze the processes occurring in the value chain of products, measure the impact of processes and product costs on producers, suppliers and consumers, and also allow taking appropriate operational measures to ensure price stability. and volumes of goods supplied to the market.

The importance of taking practical measures to ensure interaction at the level of the governments of the region and international financial institutions, donor organizations for the implementation of effective investment projects in order to form sustainable food systems was noted.

The conference also featured panel discussions covering topics such as "Identifying the Key Components of Sustainable Food System Transformation Financing in the Europe and Central Asia Region" and "The Role of Private and Climate Finance as Accelerators of Food System Transformation".

As a result of the event, the participants adopted a Declaration of Intent to accelerate the transformation of the food system in Central Asia.
