Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held talks with Japan’s Foreign Minister Iwao Takeshi, Dunyo news agency reported.

The meeting marked the first strategic dialogue at the level of the two countries’ foreign ministries. The sides discussed a broad range of bilateral cooperation issues, including the implementation of major joint projects in the chemical industry and energy sector. Prospects for expanding cooperation in information technology, transport, mining, renewable energy, and other priority areas were also highlighted.

Following the talks, a Joint Communiqué on the Strategic Dialogue between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Japan was signed. The document is aimed at strengthening comprehensive cooperation — from political and economic collaboration to educational and humanitarian exchanges.

In an article published yesterday in leading Uzbek media, the Japanese Foreign Minister emphasized that Tokyo fully supports Uzbekistan’s efforts to advance reforms in economic and social spheres, providing assistance in infrastructure development, workforce training, and other key areas.
