Tashkent hosts conference on diagnostics, preventing HIV
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A scientific-practical conference “Modern approaches to diagnosis, prevention and treatment of HIV-infections” was held in Tashkent on 1-2 December 2010. The event was dedicated to International AIDS Day.

The event was organized by Committee on coordination of development of science and technology of the Cabinet of Ministers, Science Academy of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan. It was attended by the foreign experts as well.

At the opening ceremony, it was noted that the Government of Uzbekistan adopts all measures on prevention and treatment of serious disease as HIV/AIDS is dangerous.

International AIDS day serves as reminder of necessity to stop spread of deathly disease. The conference discussed issues of cooperation among international organizations against HIV/AIDS, activity of social services at assisting HIV infection, social assistance to children, born with HIV infection.

Participants considered directive documents, adopted in Uzbekistan to fight HIV/AIDS spread, situation and modern prevention measures in the country.

In their turn, foreign specialists shared information on global development of HIV/AIDS and offered European plan of fighting the disease, treatment and care in Europe.

Sen Yolg’iz emassan Foundation is also implementing several projects in this sphere. Director of Educational Center of Sen Yolg’iz emassan Foundation Smirnova said that the foundation is implementing project of Global Fund “Rendering social assistant to children, born from mothers with HIV”.

She said that the project is aimed at assisting infected women to path from pregnancy to child birth at assistance of skilled medical personnel. At the same time, the foundation implements wide-scale campaign “We are against AIDS and drugs”.
