Tashkent hosts conference on developing Paralympic movement in Asia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An international conference “Development of Paralympic movement in Asia” was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The conference was organized by National Paralympic Association of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Asian Paralympic Committee.

Representatives of Paralympic Committees of 23 Asian countries and members of the Organizational Committee of Incheon Asian Paralympic Games participated at the event, UzA reported.

Chairperson of the National Paralympic Association of Uzbekistan Asatillla Salimov said that Uzbekistan creates all necessary conditions for education and strengthening of health of vulnerable layers of population, people with disabilities.

Special attention is paid to people with disabilities and their engagement with sports. Uzbek government adopted special resolution directed at preparation of Paralympic Games in Rio-de-Janeiro.

At London Paralympic Games, Uzbek judoka Sharif Halilov won a silver medal, while Kirill Pankov set two Asian records.

The participants of the conference highly rated work of the National Paralympic Association of Uzbekistan. President of the Asian Paralympic Committee Datuk Zainal Abu Zarin underlined role of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in developing Paralympic movement both in Central Asia and Asia. In this connection, Uzbek leader was awarded with order of the Asian Paralympic Committee.

At the international conference, the participants discussed tasks and development of the Asian Paralympic Movement till 2020.
