Tashkent hosts a forum of university rectors Uzbekistan-South Korea

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A two-day forum of rectors of higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea was held in Tashkent, Dunyo news agency reported. 

The forum served as an important platform for the comprehensive expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and bringing it to a new level. More than 100 heads of higher educational institutions, relevant ministries and departments took part in this forum.

The event was dedicated to university innovation and cooperation between the two countries to ensure economic growth in the era of the fourth industrial revolution.

At the opening ceremony of the forum, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of our country, academician Ibrahim Abdurakhmanov and Director General of the Bureau of Global Education Planning of the Ministry of Education of South Korea Ji Yong Pak spoke.

It was noted that today contacts have been established with leading universities in South Korea in many other areas of educational and scientific cooperation. In particular, branches of a number of South Korean universities specializing in technical and engineering sciences, information, digitalization and industrial technologies, including "green" ones, operate in Uzbekistan. In addition, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) provides scholarships to citizens of Uzbekistan for master’s studies at South Korean universities under various technical assistance programs. It is important for teachers and specialists to learn about the experience and knowledge of South Korea in the development of new industrial technologies, information and computer systems, medicine and medical education, and many other areas.

This event made it possible for university rectors to exchange information, get acquainted with experience, conduct master classes and seminars, create joint programs, and organize joint scientific projects.

As a result of the first day of the international forum, a number of documents on cooperation were signed. The agreements are mainly aimed at establishing direct links between higher education institutions of the two countries.

There were two sections within the framework of the forum, one of which was devoted to innovative and technological initiatives of universities aimed at economic growth, and the second - to discussing the development of cooperation and exchange between higher educational institutions of the two countries. Also, within the framework of the forum, the guests got acquainted with a number of higher educational institutions, technoparks of our capital, and also visited the city of Samarkand.
