Tashkent holds training “Sustainable management of natural resources”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent organized a practical training on use of multimedia training programme for teachers “Sustainable management of natural resources”.

The training was organized within joint project of GEF/UNDP/GIZ/GM “Multi-country Capacity Building Project of the Central Asian Countries Initiative for Land Management (CACILM)” in cooperation with the State Committee of Uzbekistan on nature protection.

Representatives of leading higher educational establishments of Uzbekistan, colleges, research institutes, specialists in environment protection and others participated at the event.

Education plays key role in achieving sustainable development and increasing potential of people to solve problems of environment and development. In this connection, modern education should be based on new approaches, which allows students to understand the world much better, in which they live.

Understanding this, the Government of Uzbekistan adopts measures on introduction of approaches on sustainable development into education process. First step in this direction, Uzbekistan developed a concept on ecologic education and education on sustainable development. In line with the resolution of Senate of Oliy Majlis and action programme on environment protection for 2008-2012, the concept on education on sustainable development was adopted. The concept envisages introduction of educational programmes, including interactive methods.

In 2012, electronic educational programme “Sustainable management of natural resources” was developed within the CACILM project. It was developed based on multimedia programmes for teachers, created by UNESCO experts. The software designed for teachers and trainers of education system.

The programme includes modules, necessary of training for all spheres of economy, which consider general issues of interaction of society with nature, theory of sustainable development, concept of sustainable development, etc. The software includes modules dedicated to issues on management of land and water resources in Central Asia, etc.

The event was aimed at presenting the software and training a group of specialists of higher educational establishment on its use. The event was held in form of presentation, work in group and discussions. In future, the participants will hold similar trainings on sustainable development.
