Tashkent Financial Institute introduces courses on public procurement
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent Financial Institute (TFI) launched new course on public procurement at the initiative of the UN Development programme and its project “Budget System Reform in Uzbekistan”.

Taking into account the facts that none of the universities in Uzbekistan teaches the discipline on Public Procurement and that TFI is one of the key Universities preparing specialists for the Ministry of Finance and budgetary institutions, “Budget System Reform in Uzbekistan” Project suggested to TFI to introduce Public Procurement course for its students based on the developed module on Public Procurement within the previous “Public Finance Reform in Uzbekistan” Project.

The module on Public Procurement reflects comprehensive information including the latest changes in legislation in the Public Procurement System of Uzbekistan. Moreover, the manual describes an International experience in this area as well.

Uzbekistan has a significant share of public budget expenditures in Gross Domestic Product (GDP), equaling around 20% of GDP. Public procurement are estimated to equal approximately 10% percent of GDP of the country with one of the highest growth rates in post-crisis environment.

TFI rector Alisher Vahobov said: “I consider that the introduction of Public Procurement course in the study process of Tashkent Financial Institute is real implementation of Project’s output, as well as its contribution in enhancing the human capital for implementation of the reforms in the public finance area”.
