Tashkent emergency official arrested for corruption in construction approvals
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of anti-corruption measures, employees of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan uncovered illegal actions by the Deputy Head of the Main Emergency Situations Department of Tashkent.
According to the investigation, the official systematically abused his position by accepting bribes for approving preliminary designs of buildings under construction, signing acts for the installation of automatic fire alarm systems, and issuing favorable opinions for the commissioning of new and reconstructed facilities by the State Acceptance Commission.
It is particularly disturbing that among these facilities were the buildings of a general education school and a medical institution, which jeopardizes public safety.
A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect, and he has been detained as a preventive measure.
A preliminary investigation is underway.
