Tashkent elected as the youth capital of the CIS in 2024

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States approved the Youth Capitals of the CIS for the next three years. In accordance with the Decision adopted at the meeting of the State Council on June 8 in Sochi, Tashkent (Uzbekistan) will receive this status in 2024, Gabala (Azerbaijan) in 2025, and Kapan (Armenia) in 2026. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

All three cities have a significant and generally applicable experience of working with youth, youth public initiatives, and a rich cultural life. They develop the infrastructure necessary for the life of young people, and support international youth cooperation.

The International project "CIS Youth Capital" was adopted by the heads of government in May 2022. It is aimed at involving the young generation of citizens in the implementation of programs for sustainable development in all areas of interstate relations.

The project will be implemented in turn in the Commonwealth countries in the order of the Russian alphabet of the names of the states. It is planned to hold an exhibition-presentation of the CIS Youth Capital, as well as other events aimed at young people and with the participation of young people from the Commonwealth member states. It is proposed to give preference to those events that are unique for the CIS, are aimed at developing partnerships with countries, including international youth cooperation, are innovative, have a targeted audience, provide for dialogue and involvement of young people in the management of the local community.

The city, which received the status of the Youth Capital, is granted the right to host a meeting of the Council for Youth Affairs and the Forum of Youth Public Organizations of the CIS Member States on its territory
