Economy24/10/2007Tashkent city’s gross regional product up 14% in 3Q 2007
Priority directions of deepening economic reforms and concrete tasks on further modernization of the country were outlined by the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the Cabinet of Ministers session on 12 February this year. The Council of Deputies of Tashkent city held its next meeting to discuss fulfillment of the work in this direction in January-September.
The meeting, conducted by the khokim (mayor) of Tashkent city A.Tukhtaev, noted that in the reporting period Uzbek capital city’s gross regional product grew by 14%. Manufacture of industrial products rose by 16%, production of consumer goods – by 20%, construction work and retail trade – by 22%, paid services and foreign trade turnover increased by 23%.
The favourable investment climate activated investment processes. The share of non-centralized investments in the structure of capital investments increased due to funds of enterprises, credits of commercial banks, as well as foreign direct investments.
Considerable work was carried out in the reporting period in the field of implementation of target programmes in economy. In particular, more than 45,000 new workplaces were created within the framework of realization of employment programme.
Along with the achievements, the meeting of Tashkent city active functionaries considered the issues of timely elimination of lacks, set practical measures on solution of vital problems.
