Tashkent city posts highest growth of GRP in 2009
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The highest growth of gross regional product (GRP) in 2009 was registered in Tashkent city, according to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

In the reporting period, Tashkent city’s GRP rose by 13% to 8.502 trillion soums, while GRP per capita grew by 11.6%.

Namangan region (9.9%), Samarkand region (9.7%) and Andijan region (9.6%) also recorded high volume of the GRP in 2009. These regions also had high growth of GRP per capita.

In money terms, Tashkent also led on the GRP volume with 8.502 trillion soums. Tashkent region and Kashkadarya region followed Tashkent with 4.42 trillion soums and 3.731 trillion soums respectively.

Lowest GRP growth was registered in Bukhara region (4.9%), Syrdarya region (5.2%), Khorezm region and Tashkent region (6.2% each). Syrdarya region was the only region, GRP of which was lower than 1 trillion soums level (795.4 billion soums).

As earlier reported, Uzbekistan’s gross domestic product in 2009 made up 48.097 trillion soums, or grew by 8.1% year-on-year.
