Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs is alerting citizens to a new type of fraud spreading through the Telegram messenger.
Scammers create fake profiles on Telegram using the names of leaders and responsible officials from ministries, agencies, and various organizations in high positions.
From these fake accounts, the criminals send messages to individuals under the supervision of these leaders.
In the message, the scammer convinces the user that law enforcement agencies have shown interest in them and requested information from the "leader."
The scammer then informs the victim that a "law enforcement officer" will contact them shortly.
Believing in the scam, the victim provides all requested information to the "law enforcement representative."
As a result, the victim loses money from their bank cards.
Before trusting a message on Telegram, call the sender to confirm that you are indeed communicating with the person they claim to be.
Stay vigilant! Do not fall for attempts by scammers to mislead you.
