Tashkent, Ashgabat discuss upcoming visit of Turkmen leader to Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A session of the joint Turkmen-Uzbek commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation started in Ashgabat on 11 November. The session is attended by heads and specialists of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

State information agency of Turkmenistan TDH reported that the delegation of Uzbekistan is led by the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade Elyor Ganiev.

The participants noted with satisfaction high level of bilateral cooperation, which is based on historic, cultural and spiritual closeness of two nations.

The central point of the session’s agenda is preparation to upcoming official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov to Uzbekistan, which should open new stage of inter-state relations and promote cooperation between two nations.

The participants of the session noted interest of the sides in deepening and diversifying mutual beneficial partnership and expressed assurance that the work of the commission will help to practical implementation of agreements, reached at high level, including in expanding agreement-legal base between two nations.

It was underlined that the countries have all opportunities to increase the volume of mutual trade, investments, expand activities of the enterprises of national markets, establishing long-term mutual beneficial between business circles of two countries and the business forums and exhibitions of the producers of two nations play key role in boosting trade-economic ties.

The sides underlined that the priority directions of cooperation are transport-communication sphere, agriculture and water management and the sides pay great attention to development of cooperation both within bilateral and regional level.

The special attention is paid to practical implementation of the project on formation of transport-transit corridor among Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Oman and Qatar, which will help to increase cargo transportation.

Issues of further strengthening partnership in science, education, culture, sports and tourism were also considered at the session. The commission will continue its meeting today.
