Tashkent and Vienna aim to expand trade and launch joint initiatives

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 21 May, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shokhrukh Gulamov, met with Andreas Reichhardt, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Austria.

During the talks, the two sides reviewed the current state of Uzbek-Austrian cooperation and outlined key areas for its further expansion. Particular emphasis was placed on enhancing collaboration in promising sectors such as high-tech manufacturing, electrical engineering, renewable energy, agriculture, and geological exploration.

The parties agreed to take concrete steps to increase bilateral trade volumes and attract Austrian investment to Uzbekistan. In this context, Austrian business representatives were introduced to six investment projects worth a total of US$1.3 billion, showcasing strong potential and favorable conditions for doing business in the country. The Uzbek government reaffirmed its readiness to provide comprehensive support to investors, including through the infrastructure and legal mechanisms available in a dedicated industrial zone for European companies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed mutual interest in advancing joint projects, deepening practical cooperation, and implementing new initiatives to strengthen bilateral ties.
