Economy02/09/2008Tajikistan Suspends Power Supplies to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan
The source said that having returned the 900m kWh of electricity [it owed] to the Uzbek side, Tajikistan has suspended electricity supplies to Uzbekistan from 1 September.
The Barq-i Tojik open joint-stock holding company has also fulfilled its commitments before the Kyrgyz counterpart by supplying 55m kWh of electricity. The source also said that a night-time limit on power supplies has been introduced in Tajikistan.
"Power will be cut off daily from 2230 hours to 0330 hours at night in all villages, except for district and regional centres, as well as in Dushanbe city," the energy holding said.
