Tajikistan officials spread unfounded statements – Uzbek embassy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tajik officials and media are continuing to spread unfounded statements and faked charges against Uzbekistan, Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tajikistan said in a statement.

The statement said that Uzbekistan Temir Yollari adopts measures on timely transit of freight to Tajikistan, but Tajik officials and media are continuing to spread unfounded statements and faked charges, saying Uzbekistan is delaying cargo transit.

The embassy said cargo transit from border stations of Kudukli and Bekabad to stations of Dushanbe and Sogd in Tajikistan is carried out in timely manner and without any barriers.

Uzbekistan handed over 1,337 cars, including 332 cars with food, 607 cars with fuel, 261 cars with construction materials and 147 cars with other products, to Tajikistan thanks to efforts of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari during rehabilitation works at Amuzang station.

The embassy noted that the volume of transit cargo rose by 2.7% year-on-year in May 2010, which means that daily cargo transit from Uzbekistan to Tajikistan grew by 220 tonnes year-on-year.

The statement said that Uzbekistan carried out and continues to adopt measures to ensure timely transit of cargo from its territory to Tajikistan. The Uzbek sides fully implements its obligations on cargo transit despite problems in some part of railway, which required rehabilitation works.

The embassy stated that such statements and accusations of Tajikistan official against Uzbekistan undermine foundations of good-neighborhood and partnership relations between two states and do not strengthen mutual trust.
