The import of electricity was 3.653bn kWh worth 66.2m dollars in this period, the source said.
"In terms of cost, the electricity import in January-September 2009 was higher than export by 10.3m dollars (18.4%) and in terms of amount, it was lower by 109.4m kWh (2.9%). Electricity imports from Uzbekistan [to Tajikistan] in the first nine months of this year were 2.890bn kWh (worth 43.3m dollars), and 3.453bn kWh [of electricity] (worth US$49.6m) was exported to that country," the source added.
According to data from the State Statistics Committee, gas imports from Uzbekistan to Tajikistan in the first nine months of 2009 were 177.1 million cubic meters worth US$42.5 million, which was less by 23.2% than in the same period of 2008.
