Surkhandarya region posts 11.2% GRP growth in 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Gross regional product (GRP) of Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan increased by 11.2% in 2010.

The region recorded 12.9% growth in industrial output, 20.8% - in construction works and 5.5% - in production of consumer goods.

Share of small businesses and private entrepreneurship in the gross regional product of the region made up 71.7%.

In the reporting period, the industrial enterprises of Uzbekistan launched over 127 new productions. The region also paid attention to mining and processing of coal, oil, natural gas, salt, gypsum, etc.

About 115.6 billion soums were directed to support small businesses and private entrepreneurship in 2010. The region implemented 422 projects in line with regional investment programme, of which 276 in food industry and 146 in non-food industry.

In rural area of Bukhara region, 62 retail trade objects, 14 catering objects, and 291 personnel objects have been commissioned. About 63,840 new jobs were created in the region.

Some 660 modern habitations have been commissioned at 16 blocks in Bukhara region. Construction works for 38.9 billion soums were carried out.

The region’s agriculture output grew by 3.6% and cattle-breeding – 7.8%.
