Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 November 2020, submission of applications for participation in the exchange program for girls aged 15 to 17 years - "TechGirls" began.
TechGirls is an international summer exchange program designed to empower young girls from Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa and inspire them to find their vocation in science and technology. The program is open to female students of secondary schools, lyceums and colleges of Uzbekistan aged 15 to 17 who are interested in disciplines in the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) - science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The finalists of the TechGirls program, funded by the US State Department and administered by the US Embassy in Uzbekistan, will spend four weeks in the United States of America, where they will participate in an interactive technology and computer camp. This will allow participants to learn in depth topics related to information technology, such as programming and cybersecurity, as well as the opportunity to complete 45 hours of hands-on training.
In 2021, three finalists from Uzbekistan will be selected to participate in the program, who will gain valuable and unforgettable experience, as well as valuable skills in the field of information technology.
As part of the program, finalists will also visit technology companies, leadership centers, and participate in community service, short-term internships and cultural events. Upon completion of the program and returning to their home countries, TechGirls members undertake at least one peer education project in their schools or volunteer in their local communities.
The program covers all expenses including flights, US accommodation, meals and visa fees.
Applications for participation in the TechGirls 2021 program will be accepted until 15 January 2021.
