Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Strong winds damaged solar panels in a solar photovoltaic station in Sherabad district of Surkhandarya region. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

The incident occurred on 28 January. The ministry noted that due to strong winds, 91 solar panels fell to the ground, which had not yet been fully installed.

Now experts are studying the technical condition of the damaged panels. Work is also underway to install technically sound panels.

It was noted that additional solar panels were brought in, given that they may fail during construction.

The project plans to install about 1 million solar panels. More than two thousand local residents were involved in the construction process.

The Ministry of Energy recalled that the project is being implemented with the participation of Masdar (UAE). The project is being implemented due to direct investment from the investor.
