Strategy Signed in Baku to Engage Children and Youth in Climate Action

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku, seven countries — Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkey — signed an International Strategy for Promoting a Culture of Sustainable Development and Engaging Children and Youth in Climate Action for 2024-2030.

This strategy, based on projects and initiatives by young eco-activists from these countries, aims to mobilize the younger generation to actively participate in climate action.

Uzbekistan’s First Lady, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the International “Zamin” Foundation, Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, praised the commitment of young COP29 participants to contribute to global sustainable development. She emphasized, “We advocate for a systematic and ongoing ‘climate’ dialogue with young people, expanding their role in climate action and supporting eco-startups.”

Signing this strategy marks a significant step toward creating a more sustainable future, where the younger generation plays a key role in implementing environmental initiatives and addressing global challenges.
