STC representatives presents information on reforms and transformations in the tax sphere

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 10 October, Gaidar readings on the topic: “Tax reforms in the CIS countries: lessons and prospects” were held at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Such readings have already taken place in more than 35 cities of the Russian Federation and the CIS countries. Uzbekistan was no exception.

The event was organized by the State Tax Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan, as well as the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) and the E. T. Gaidar Institute of Economic Policy (IEP).

A thorough exchange of experience between experts in the field of improving tax administration and improving mechanisms for tax regulation of the economy are the main goals of the Gaidar readings.

The representatives of the State Tax Committee acquainted the participants with the reforms and transformations in the tax sphere of our country. In particular, they revealed the essence of the Concept for improving the tax policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Strategy for improving tax administration. The measures taken already give their quantitative and qualitative results.

“There has been a steady increase in the number of VAT payers,” said Behzod Musaev, chairman of the STC. - At the same time, thanks to a reduction in the tax burden of about 10.2 trillion soums remained at the disposal of the business. In addition, significant results are also achieved by a reduction in the tax burden on the wage fund. The tax revenue here increased exactly 2 times.

Permanent Advisor from the International Monetary Fund to the STC of the Republic of Uzbekistan Modestas Kaseliauskas noted the importance of a symbiosis of tax policy and administration. The tax audit should ultimately become a serious incentive to increase the tax culture and the voluntary payment of taxes.

In addition, reports were presented on the features of the Russian model of the tax system, the main areas of tax policy and the optimization of tax risks in the Russian Federation. Experts answered all questions of interest to experts and gave specific recommendations for improving the tax sphere of our country.
