STC: Analytics will be conducted only to identify facts of illegal e-commerce

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - After posting for discussion a draft joint resolution of the State Tax Committee (STC) and the Central Bank on providing banks with information to tax authorities, a lot of questions and comments were voiced on social networks by both the media and bloggers, as well as representatives of the general public.

To clarify them in an open dialogue format, an online briefing was organized on 10 April, in which the leadership of the STC participated, as well as more than 20 journalists, bloggers and specialists in the field.

The briefing was also made by the leading tax administration specialist of the World Bank Raul Felix Junkera-Varela, certified anti-money laundering specialist (Abu Dhabi) Alisher Rakhmatullaev, general secretary of the European-Uzbek Association for Economic Cooperation (Belgium) Oybek Shaykhov.

The main issue of the discussion is the receipt by the tax authorities of information on the transfer of funds from card to card of individuals.

Many users of social networks have expressed concern that the tax authorities will control their cash on plastic cards.

The STC clearly explained that information regarding deposits, dividends, salary information and the sale of property of individuals will not be requested.

When asked about how this will affect the activities of bloggers, it is noted that this document does not provide for verification of their accounts.

Analytics will be conducted only to identify facts of illegal e-commerce for its further legalization.

In case of revealing data on the implementation of electronic commerce without official registration, tax officials will carry out explanatory work with recommendations on state registration of entrepreneurial activity in the prescribed manner.

According to a preliminary analysis of the tax authorities, today the number of such persons may be about 700 people.

The project submitted for discussion was developed taking into account international experience. This was also noted by World Bank expert Raul Felix Juncker-Varela, who pointed to the existence of an information exchange system between banks and tax authorities both in Europe and America, as well as in neighboring countries.

Legal business is not only a source of income, but also a contribution to replenishing the country's budget. In general, the participants in the online briefing received answers to all their questions. It is worth noting that constructive proposals will be taken into account in the process of finalizing the draft document.
