Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A meeting was held at the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan with advisers from the Department of Technical Assistance of the US Treasury.

During the meeting, the leadership of the STC discussed with experts preliminary areas of technical assistance in the framework of the implementation of the Terms of Reference for the development of the financial sector of Uzbekistan, in particular, tax administration, signed in September 2019.

In the Address of the President to the Oliy Majlis on 24 January, the importance of introducing advanced foreign experience in all areas of activity, including the tax system of the country, was noted.

In this regard, the start of the first stage of technical assistance from the experts of the US Treasury is of particular importance.

“In the process of getting acquainted with the activities of the tax authorities of Uzbekistan, we were convinced of the correctness of your chosen path,” said Alan Robidu, senior adviser to the US Treasury during the meeting. “It is respectful that the tax service of Uzbekistan today is primarily a service, not a control.

Experts also familiarized themselves with the activities of the Center for Advanced Training of the STC, made sure that the training of personnel in the STC is given priority.

Technical assistance will be provided in several areas. In particular, it will be associated with the practical aspects of tax audits, improving tax administration of large taxpayers, staff training, advanced training in sectors, as well as risk management.

A more detailed consideration of all aspects of technical assistance with the development of a specific action plan is planned.
