State Security Service is defined as an authorized state body in the field of cybersecurity

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the twenty-fourth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Cybersecurity" was also discussed.

The Law consists of 8 chapters and 40 articles, which set out the goals, objectives of the Law, basic concepts, principles, directions, methods for preventing and combating cybercrime, the responsible state body and its powers, taking action on cybersecurity incidents, as well as issues of international cooperation.

Thus, the purpose of the Law is to regulate relations in the field of cybersecurity in our country, the main tasks of which are to protect the interests of the individual, society and the state in cyberspace from external and internal threats.

The Law uses such concepts as cybercrime, cyberthreat, cybersecurity, cyberdefense and cyberattack, defines the basic principles for ensuring cybersecurity and the main directions of state policy in this area.

The Law also defines the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan as an authorized state body in the field of cybersecurity and fixes its rights and obligations.

In addition, the Law envisages the rights and obligations of state bodies and organizations to ensure cybersecurity.

At the same time, the Law defines the rights and obligations of subjects of cybersecurity, their obligatory examination for compliance with the requirements of cybersecurity or at the initiative of subjects of cybersecurity.

The law establishes a number of measures aimed at investigating cybercrime incidents, taking measures to prevent them, and disclosing information about incidents that have occurred.

The adoption of the Law is important, first of all, for ensuring the security of the individual, society and the state;

secondly, it makes a significant contribution to the state regulation of cybersecurity, improving the system of legal, organizational, scientific, technical and regulatory support, ensuring the integrity of information systems and resources;

thirdly, it serves to prevent unauthorized actions, destruction, alteration, distortion, copying, blocking of information and other forms of illegal interference in the information systems and networks of the country.

The law was approved by the senators.
