The meeting was aimed at discussing the Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) program for the period 2011-2012.

Katayama Kazuhisa, head of JICA office in Uzbekistan said that the purpose of JDS is providing public servants with opportunity to earn Masters Degree in Japanese universities in line with the agreements with the Uzbekistani government on cooperation in formation of institutional mechanisms of departments and development of bilateral relations between Japan and Uzbekistan.

In 2010, two employees of the State Property Committee of Uzbekistan reached the finals of the JDS programme and currently are studying in Japan. After return, they will continue to work at the State Property Committee and contribute to development of Uzbekistan’s economy.
