State Demonopolization Committee sums up 1Q results
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State Committee of Uzbekistan on demonopolization and development of competition held a session of the expanded board to sum up the results of the first quarter of 2011.

The press service of the committee said the programme on restructuring, financial rehabilitation of enterprises and expanding production activities are conducted at 800 enterprises, of which 85% increased production and goods sales, while 10% are carrying out reconstruction and modernization works.

These enterprises produced goods for 750 billion soums, which is up by 54% year-on-year. The investments volume made up 110.6 billion soums. Some 4,000 jobs were created at these enterprises. It is planned to create over 25,000 new jobs in 2010 and increase the production volume to 2.5 billion soums.

The State Demonopolization Committee carried out analysis of 37 goods markets, including liquefied gas supply in containers for population, fertilizers supply, certification and metrology, grain cleaning and selling, production of buses and lorries, etc.

The sum of compensation in the result of inspections directed at ensuring requirements of antimonopoly and natural monopolies legislation made up 0.6 billion soums. The committee opened 76 cases and it issued 66 orders.

The committee participated in 814 tenders to ensure competition at placement of public procurements, works and services. In the result, some 18 billion soums of the state budget and targeted funds were saved. At the decision of the committee, some 14 monopoly products for 17.8 billion soums were put to exchange trades.

The committee initiated studies of activity of natural monopolies on ensuring and simplification of access of small businesses to engineering-communication networks. The committee developed corresponding proposals on eliminating existing problems.

The State Demonopolization Committee said that it revealed 1,387 facts of violations of legislation on protection of consumer rights and advertisement. Consumers received compensations for 145 million soums.
