State Customs Committee introduces ICT into its activities
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will direct over 130 billion soums to implementation of programme on strengthening material and technical base of activities of the customs bodies for 2011-2015.

First deputy State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan Gofurjanov Shukuorv said that President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and the Government of Uzbekistan adopted decisions on modernization of material and technical base of customs bodies.

He said that resources of off-budget special fund were directed to implementation of the programme on strengthening of material and technical base of state customs bodies for 2011-2015, first of all to equipping customs bodies with special modern scanning and special equipment, which will allow to register all goods, moving through state borders.

The programme on strengthening of material and technical base of state customs bodies for 2011-2015 includes 16 points, which are directed at introduction of information-communication technologies to activities of state customs bodies. Special attention is paid to equipment of ICT at customs posts.

He said that about 130 billion soums will be allocated to implementation of the tasks of the programme, he said.

Within the programme, two large scale mobile automobile scanners were launched at Oybek state customs point in Tashkent region and Ayritom customs point in Surkhandarya region. Galaba railway customs point was also equipped with the scanner.

By the end of 2013, it planned to equip customs points in Andijan, Bukhara and Surkhandarya regions with similar scanners. It is worth to mention that scanners helped to reveal 321 cases of violations.

Within the programme, customs points Rechnoy Port in Surkhandarya, Airport of Navoi region, Tashkent International Airport and other border customs point were equipped with X-ray equipment. Over 88 sets of passport scanners were installed at customs posts and 59 posts were equipped with video surveillance equipment.

Besides, territorial divisions of State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan were equipped with 472 computers, 224 printers and furniture.

This year, it is planned to install automated information system on automobile template recognition.

In 2011-2013, it is planned to install radiation monitoring systems at 11 customs points. Currently, four customs points were equipped with such systems.

Central Office of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan installed 12 servers of various configurations within the programme.

Besides, within the US project “Export control and border security”, State Customs Committee received two sets of servers. The servers will help to develop automated information systems of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan, ensure information security and speed up work process.

Currently, the State Statistics Committee has about 20 information systems, which are united into one single system.
