State Communication Committee sums up 2012 results
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Board of the State Committee on communication, information and telecommunication technologies of Uzbekistan held a session on 24 January 2013 to sum up results activities of ICT sector in 2012 and perspectives for 2013.

At the session it was noted that the growth of rendered services, by enterprises of industry, made up 22.5%, while the growth of services, rendered to population, was 24.5%.

The forecast on projects, implemented due to foreign direct investments and loans, were executed with 10% surplus.

As of 1 January 2013, number of business entities, which render data transfer, including internet services, reached 930 and internet cafes – 1,063.

Total speed of access to international information networks grew by 61% in 2012 and made up 7780 Mbps.

The set tariffs for ISPs for international internet bandwidth decreased in average by 25% in last year, the committee said.

Number of registered domains in UZ domain zone currently makes up over 15,800, the session of the committee stated.

Number of state information resources of ministries and departments reached 195 and systems – 98. Number of basic interactive state services hit 197 units. Some 140 state bodies were connected to single email and electronic document turnover system.

Currently, nine centers carry out registration of electronic signatures. Number of registered keys made up 286,503 units. The growth rate made up 38.6%.

The committee said that about 11,500 employees of the government bodies underwent computer literacy tests. About 12,580 employees participated in computer literacy courses.

Uzbekistan continues to work on introduction of broadband networks of telecommunication. Currently, number of installed broadband ports reached 378,000, of which 202,700 are under exploitation. The growth rate made up 55.5% and 37.2% respectively.

The country constructed 1,576 km of optic-fiber communication lines. Uzbekistan also continued installation of television transmitters in Ferghana, navi, Syrdarya and Surkhandarya region, which helped to increase level of digital coverage u to 42%.
