Speed to international internet channels reach 140.03 Gbps
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A board of the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communication of Uzbekistan chaired by Minister Azim Akhmedkhadjaev was held in Tashkent to discuss development of the industry in the first half of 2018.

The event considered attraction and use of direct foreign investments into the sector. It was ordered to prepare investment proposals, search of foreign investors, develop projects and determine sources of their financing.

Within the framework of ongoing work on investment projects, 690 km of fiber-optic communication lines were laid during the period under review, 1,004 base stations were installed and put into operation, including 483 for 3G technology and 4G LTE. To date, the total length of optic fiber communication lines is 24,500 km, the total number of base stations is 20,994.

In the first half of 2018, the growth of rendered services by enterprises of the industry made up 18.9%.

Speed to international internet channels reached 140.03 Gbps, which is 1.5 times higher compared to beginning of 2018.

It is planned to increase speed of international internet channel by 8-10 times to 1 Tbps by the end of 2018. It is also planned to lay 2,000 km of optic fiber lines by the end of 2018.
