Special Representative for WTO issues to appear under the President of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On additional measures to accelerate the process of entry of the Republic of Uzbekistan into the World Trade Organization”.

The document approves the updated composition: 

Interdepartmental Commission for Work with the World Trade Organization;

Negotiating group for work with the World Trade Organization.

The post of Special Representative of the President for WTO issues is being introduced in the structure of the Presidential Administration. A Department for Work with the WTO and Trade Negotiations will be created within the structure of the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, and subdivisions on WTO issues will be created within the structure of 20 ministries and departments.

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva introduces the position of First Secretary for WTO issues.

The Ministry of Justice is entrusted with the function of harmonizing national legislation with the WTO agreements.

From 1 July 2023, it is prohibited to develop draft regulatory legal acts that do not comply with the rules and norms of the WTO.

About 30 billion soums are allocated in 2023 to implement measures related to Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.
