Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Special industrial zones are a cornerstone for the accelerated development of Tashkent and Uzbekistan as a whole, emphasized President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his visit on 23 November to the "Yangi Avlod" ("New Generation") industrial zone in the Yangihayot district of Tashkent.
"These projects are as vital to us as air. If each district establishes several such zones, Tashkent will transform into a true industrial capital, as we envision," stated the President.
He highlighted that achieving the ambitious goal of increasing the country’s GDP to US$200 billion requires efficient collaboration with investors. To this end, he underscored Tashkent’s role as a leader in attracting investments, setting a target of US$10 billion.
The President also instructed that industrial operations be relocated outside the city center. The head of the Uzbekistan office of China CAMC Engineering (CAMCE) announced that the company plans to build infrastructure for the new industrial zone and become a major investor in the project. CAMCE will oversee the zone’s management, attract investors, and develop its infrastructure.
The company aims to bring in Chinese investors from sectors such as food processing, automotive manufacturing, textiles, and electrical engineering. Over 40 companies have already expressed interest in participating in the project.
Within the zone, JAC Motors plans to construct a factory capable of producing up to 50,000 minibuses annually. The production facilities are expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2025, with an investment of US$135 million.
The industrial zone will feature laboratories, research centers, conference halls, and marketplaces. A training center with dual education programs is also planned to prepare skilled specialists for the zone’s enterprises.
The project encompasses 47 initiatives with a total investment of US$1.375 billion, projected to create approximately 12,000 new jobs in sectors including food production, mechanical engineering, construction materials, and chemical manufacturing.
Notably, the zone will actively collaborate with international brands such as DP World, JAC Motors, Krantas, Acec Japan, East Can Solutions, EAS, and Evyap. All production will focus on high value-added goods for export.
It is worth noting that President Mirziyoyev approved the creation of the "Yangi Avlod" industrial zone, initially planned to cover 664.5 hectares. The zone offers special conditions for its participants, tailored to the production needs of each enterprise based on the space they occupy.
