On 20 February, mobile communication operators said that prefixes from 100 to 109 will be changed to new telephone numbering plans in near future.
MTS Uzbekistan said that the prefixes 100, 101, 102, 103, 104 and 107 will be changed to 800, 801, 802, 803, 80 and 807 respectively. The changes will affect numbers with code +99897.
Beeline said that the prefixes 105, 106 and 108 will be changed to 805, 806 and 808 respectively. The changes will affect numbers with code +99890. According to some data, Perfectum Mobile will change prefix 109 to 809.
According to operators, the subscribers will be informed additionally with SMS message on change of prefixes.
Prefixes for long-distance and international calls will be changed as well. Subscribers will have to dial “0” and “00” instead of current “8” and “8-10”.
Mahsum Mahmudov, Director-General of Uzbektelecom joint stock company, said that the works on transfer of prefixes have been started and they will be launched within a month. He said that new prefixes are introduced in line with the recommendation of International Telecommunicaton Union.
